Note

Bihar’s flood panel on 8 September still read crowded. More than 3.4 million people across thirteen districts were in the affected column while the Ganga sat above old record crests at Gandhi Ghat, Pandarak and still at Sultanganj. Five people drowned in Patna district’s Danapur and Maner belt. Boats still tipped. Embankments had already given up sections. IMD kept heavy rain on the board through the 10th. The hydrological distinction Watchers underlines is the right one for Desk: not that September can flood — that previous highest flood levels were exceeded on the main stem.

Attribution: soft aggregator The Watchers (Reet Kaur), 8 Sep 2026 — citing FMISC WRD Bihar real-time flood monitoring, IMD Meteorological Centre Patna warnings, and ABP Live on the five Patna-district drownings. Gauge numbers are Watchers-relayed from the state flood system.

Why it matters

3.4 million affected is the human width of the HFL stamp; five drownings in one district are the sharp edge. Falling gauges at some posts do not empty diara villages still ringed by water.
