Lebanon: aid stuck south of Litani — ~46,000 inside IDF military zone

Lane: conflictsouth of the Litani River, southern Lebanon

At the UN Spokesperson’s daily press briefing on 1 September 2026, humanitarian colleagues reported that access remains severely restricted in parts of southern Lebanon, especially south of the Litani River. Since the end of July, humanitarian organizations have faced major obstacles reaching communities in and around the IDF-declared military area, where some 46,000 people live. Access to frontline villages is particularly difficult, with physical barriers restricting movement and making it harder to assess needs, deliver aid, and repair critical infrastructure. Despite constraints, nearly 600 humanitarian movements have been facilitated by the Humanitarian Notification System since the escalation began on 2 March.

Estimated centroid south of the Litani River, southern Lebanon (~33.333°N, 35.25°E).
