Kenscoff massacre: UN counts at least 47 dead as Haiti gangs tighten the noose

Ruiz Massieu said Haitians continue to bear a “devastating human cost,” that BINUH documented 1,408 people killed and 656 injured between April and June 2026 alone, and that the latest attack generated a new wave of public indignation. Deputy Emergency Relief Coordinator Indrika Ratwatte told the Council the latest attack is “yet another grim reminder of the suffering Haitians face every day,” with nearly 1.5 million people — 12 per cent of Haiti’s population — internally displaced, half of them children.
